Apartment Interior; Text Message
Acrylic on canvas, diptych; 2015. 142 cm x 224 cm. A different work to the other large paintings produced in the years 2013-2015 in that it is based on a number of sources, some my own, some second hand, collaged together at the design stage and subjected to a limited, but often heightened, palette and a somewhat severe one-point perspective scheme. The much adapted source image for the interior was primarily chosen for the strong diagonals of the cast shadows. The perspective scheme of the exterior rooftop source photograph could not be integrated into the interior one to my satisfaction. Consequently I chose to redraw it as series of receding elevations.
